A photography book that I really enjoy is "Photography and the Art of Seeing" by Freeman Patterson. The book isn't so much about technique (but there is much of that) as it is about an attitude towards what your camera captures. I revel in those rare instances where the camera captures something evocative or expansive or essential (see response buttons on each post!).

Someone paid me a complement a while back that was unexpected and yet very appreciated. An artist friend told me that my photos 'captured the essence' of the thing I was photographing. Considering my friends ability as an artist, I took her words as very encouraging.

I hope that you enjoy and are drawn into something deeper as you view the pictures and read the little metaphorical (or just descriptive) blurbs I attach to each.
